I would be lying if I told you that this wasn’t the video that made me first fall in love with nerds in the first place. Just look at Rivers in that perfect early 2000’s, pre-hipster, nerd rock gear. So dreamy.
It was high school for me, music videos were totally the shit, and it wasn’t embarrassing to be a Weezer fan yet.
And boy, was I ever a Weezer fan. I held up the “W” hands at Weezer concerts, I had posters of Rivers in my college dorm, I started wearing fake glasses thanks to Weezer during 2001 (yes, I’ve been wearing fake glasses for 10 years now before you could find them in every store), I was an EXTREMELY active Weezer message board member, and I swooned over Rivers in this video like the teenage girl that I was.
And still to this day I will defend the “Green Album”. I will defend that album to my death bed. Everything post-Green Album … well … that’s another story.
What an era that was.
